Of all Lolita styles Punk Lolita is the hardest to pull off for inexperienced Lolitas. The look is inspired from Western Punk, this Lolita style offers you slightly more freedom than your regular Lolita styles. From bell-shaped skirts to studs, to stumpy boots to lace, Punk Lolita is a great style for those Lolitas who simply LOVE their rebel side. The key spirit is to be you. It's not a costume and whatever chunky boots, tartan skirt you're going with it's the spirit of not faking the look. You don't have to pose as hard, rude nor serious.

Let’s check a Punk Lolita style with one of our most successful type, Pullip Fanatica.

Check her shape. It’s not your typical Lolita A-line dress. It’s a bit bell shaped but much shorter. The shape of Punk Lolita is a bit hard to achieve. Skirts are mostly shorter, usually two fingers over the knee at the most. Pants aren't really used. You might see a lot of chained pants in Western punk but this is still Lolita, it need to be a bit girly. For the top, you can wear frilly blouses with puffy sleeves and perhaps something screen-printed on is good. Pointy collars and tails are fine, too.

Layering is very important part of Punk Lolita. You’ll see that Fanatica has lots of layers. I mean, Look at her skirt, it’s short but it’s a tiered skirt with lace on the bottom and different fabric used the way up. Also has a check pattern apron layer over it. She has tights on her leg (original is stockings) and a suede blouse with puffy on top. Again a shawl is added over the blouse. Like her chunky boots this shawl has fur trim on it.

So again, Layering is key to the Punk Lolita style

Let’s check the makeup. Punk Lolita is a bit heavier than your average Lolita, It can be like Gothic Lolita with dark and smoky eyes. And like the hairstyle it just needs to be not too doll-like, neat and dressy. Punk Lolita is more forgiving with hair colors and if it fits the whole look, long or short, any style and color can be done. Still remember it should be western punk inspired.
